Almost every month, a young person reaches out to me with the question: “Can you help me find an internship or my first job at ChildFund?”
I usually hear a version of the same story. They have studied, earned the qualifications and are eager to work, but keep hearing “you need experience.” It is a frustrating position to be in. How do you gain experience when every first opportunity seems to require that you already have it? I have seen how quickly confidence can change when a young person is given responsibility, feedback and a chance to prove what they can do. That first experience can change how they see their future.
