Eight suspects linked to an alleged R9.9 million electricity scam involving the embattled Emfuleni Local Municipality are expected to appear in court on Monday.
Janitha van Reenen, 25, was re-arrested outside the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court shortly after securing bail in a separate fraud case involving the same municipality.
She was arrested last Thursday by the Gauteng Political Killing Task Team on allegations that she was the mastermind behind a syndicate involved in illegal electricity connections in Emfuleni.
According to reports, Van Reenen was granted bail by the Johannesburg High Court last Monday after three unsuccessful attempts to secure her release at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court.
