The incident unfolded around 2:00 PM local time (19:00 UTC) as the widebody freighter completed a domestic route from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Emergency crews rushed to the scene where the heavy aircraft ultimately came to a rest adjacent to a service road, impacting several vehicles—including two parked commercial lorries.
During a press briefing at the airport, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed the death toll, noting that at least five individuals lost their lives in the collision and subsequent wreckage.
