President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine expects the United States to approve a new package of sanctions against Russia, although the issue was not discussed during today’s talks with the U.S. side.
The Ukrainian President said this during a joint press conference with the U.S. President’s special envoys, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The Ukrainian side certainly hopes that the great work and efforts of Lindsey, a great friend of Ukraine, will receive a positive response from the United States. And, of course, we are counting on these sanctions, on this package,” the President said.
He noted that during previous meetings, the Ukrainian side had received positive signals regarding the sanctions package and was awaiting a vote.
At the same time, Zelensky stressed that he does not link the issue of sanctions to the current visit of the U.S. representatives to Ukraine.
