Vinayaka Chaturthi idol makers in Coimbatore district have been asked to obtain prior permission and follow the government guidelines on installation, procession and immersion of the idols.The guidelines were discussed at a coordination meeting chaired by District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar with idol makers at the Collectorate on Saturday.The administration asked the idol makers to use only clay and natural materials and avoid materials that could pollute water bodies. Adequate security, lighting, and fire-safety measures should also be provided at places where the idols are installed.Use of loudspeakers should be restricted to the permitted timings and regulations, and processions should be conducted only along routes approved by the police.At immersion points, plastic, decorative materials, and other waste should be removed before immersion to prevent pollution of water bodies. The Collector also urged the idol makers to cooperate with the police and district authorities to ensure that the festival, to be celebrated on September 14, is conducted peacefully and without affecting public safety or social harmony.
