MADURAI Madurai district administration has issued guidelines on the permissible materials for making Vinayakar idols for the immersion ceremony in connection with the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.Collector Nishant Krishna presided over a review meeting held at the Collectorate, regarding security arrangements and guidelines, in the presence of Superintendent of Police N. Devanathan.According to a press release, prior permission should be obtained to install and worship Vinayakar idols in public places. A No Objection Certificate should be obtained. Vinayakar idols should be made of natural, biodegradable, eco-friendly raw materials. The idols should not exceed more than 10 feet in height.Installation of the idols near hospitals, educational institutions, and other places of worship was prohibited and cone-shaped loudspeakers were also prohibited. The Vinayakar idols should be immersed only at places notified for the purpose, the press release said.The Collector instructed the officials of various departments to coordinate and ensure the smooth conduct of the festival. The Collector urged the event organisers and the general public to extend their cooperation and strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the district administration.
