GO! Durban to hit the road in December as eThekwini reaches agreement with operators

eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba says GO!Durban will go live in December after the city reached agreement with public transport operators on key issues surrounding the programme’s rollout.

GO!Durban is set to go live in December, with eThekwini Municipality saying it has reached common ground with public transport operators on key issues that had delayed the rollout of the integrated transport service.

“This paves the way for the service to go live in December this year,” eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba said at a media briefing on Sunday.

The first service will operate along the C3 Corridor between Bridge City and Pinetown, connecting surrounding communities and providing the first operational component of the city's integrated public transport network.

Xaba said the city, together with the provincial and national departments of transport, had navigated several challenges and reached agreement with the public transport industry on the key principles governing its participation in GO!Durban.
