US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Vladimir Putin in Moscow for over three hours, discussing plans for the next stage of Ukraine peace efforts.
The White House said talks covered "substantive plans for next steps," with announcements expected in the coming weeks, as the envoys headed to Kyiv.
Despite a constructive tone, Russia's core demands — Ukrainian territorial withdrawal and an end to Nato ambitions — remained unchanged following the discussions.
Russia temporarily halted strikes on Kyiv during the envoys' visit, while Ukraine pledged to refrain from striking Moscow in a show of reciprocal restraint.
