Uttar Pradesh stepped up its global investment outreach by showcasing its semiconductor, electronics, and advanced technology ecosystem to leading Taiwanese firms at SEMICON 2026 in Taipei (Sept 2–4). The state sought strategic partnerships and investments across chip manufacturing, sensors, data centres, and supply-chain development.The state showcased its investment-ready infrastructure, policy incentives, skilled talent and expanding electronics ecosystem, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a potential destination for global companies looking to establish and scale their India operations.Led by Shri Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Electronics & IT, the Uttar Pradesh team included Ms. Prerna Sharma, Additional CEO, Invest UP, and Shri Manish Meena, Additional CEO, YEIDA. They participated in the India-Taiwan Semiconductor Forum, engaging with industry leaders and government representatives to explore deeper technology and investment cooperation.Shri Alok Kumar presented Uttar Pradesh’s semiconductor ambitions, outlining opportunities for global companies to establish and scale their India operations. He highlighted the state’s industrial infrastructure, progressive incentive policies, skilled workforce and plans to build a strong technology manufacturing ecosystem.The forum also brought together Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Head of the India Semiconductor Mission; Shri Ninad Satishchandra Deshpande, Director General, ITA; and representatives from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.Uttar Pradesh invited Taiwanese companies to explore opportunities across sensor modules, electronics manufacturing, application engineering, testing and deeper supply-chain localisation.The main development: Uttar Pradesh used SEMICON 2026 to directly engage Taiwanese technology companies and position the state as a destination for semiconductor, electronics and advanced technology investments.The outreach was further strengthened through a high-level meeting with Mr. Eugene Huang, Chairman of Creative Sensor Inc., and the company’s senior leadership to discuss its India expansion plans. Meetings were also held with MediaTek and ADATA Technology, along with the TIBA business association, to explore investment opportunities, joint ventures and long-term collaborations.The state is aligning its strategy with national programmes, including ISM 2.0, ECMS and MPMS, alongside the UP-Semiconductor Policy 2024 and UP FDI Policy 2023. Invest UP, YEIDA and the IT and Electronics Department are facilitating investments through industrial infrastructure, policy incentives and streamlined approvals.The discussions also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s land banks, proximity to the NCR, skilled workforce, supplier base and expanding electronics ecosystem as key advantages for global companies.
