Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi at his mother's burial
Dignitaries and political heavyweights from across party lines converged on Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Saturday for the burial of Mary Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The funeral activities began on Friday with a Mass for the deceased at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, following a vigil and service of songs held at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
Her death had attracted condolences from political leaders and associates across the country, including President Bola Tinubu, who described her as a woman devoted to her family and community.
Tinubu extended his condolences to Amaechi and the entire family, while mourning the loss of the former governor’s mother.
