Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas expressed his condolences Saturday following the deaths of two Air Force officers whose F-4E Phantom II fighter jet crashed during an air show in Tanagra, north of Athens.
“I express my deepest sorrow for the loss of the two officers of the Hellenic Air Force,” Tassoulas said in a statement. He extended his condolences to the families of the pilots and the Air Force.
The crash occurred during an aerial demonstration at Tanagra Air Base, where the fighter was participating in an air show. The F-4E Phantom II is a two-seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft operated by Greece’s Air Force.
