A consultative meeting chaired by ministers was held here on Saturday on Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple premises to discuss and assess the arrangements for the upcoming consecration. The meeting was jointly chaired by Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar and Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments S. Ramesh along with Collector Nishant Krishna, Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, and others.Anticipating a little over 10 lakh devotees, VIPs, and pilgrims converging on the Temple City, the ministerial team issued directives to ensure a seamless experience.Under the finalised blueprint, entry passes issued to devotees and dignitaries will feature printed route maps and explicit directional guidelines.Informational banners and guideposts will be erected extensively along approach routes. Dedicated parking facilities are being designated on the outskirts for vehicles arriving from Tiruchi, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and other northern and southern districts. To minimise congestion near the core temple zone, special shuttle services -- comprising dedicated buses and autos-- will operate continuously from these parking hubs, said a press statement from the district administration.Authorities said that commercial establishments immediately surrounding the temple’s premises would remain closed on the day of the consecration to facilitate an unhindered pedestrian movement.“Security protocols have been significantly elevated for the event. State-of-the-art Facial Recognition System (FRS) cameras will be deployed across vantage points for real-time and intensive surveillance. Police assistance booths, heavy perimeter security, and specialised crowd-control corridors will be managed jointly by district and traffic police units, led by Deputy Commissioners A.G. Inigo Divyan and S. Vanitha,” said the statement. To cater to basic civic needs, 11 dedicated facilitation zones will be set up.These hubs will house footwear deposit counters, mobile phone safekeeping units, annadanam and prasadam distribution kiosks, mobile restrooms, and uninterrupted drinking water stations, all clearly marked with prominent signage.Large LED display screens would be installed at strategic locations across the city to allow pilgrims to witness the consecration rituals live.Given the expected scale of the gathering, health and safety infrastructure has been bolstered, the statement stated.Ambulances equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) systems, special medical camps, and mobile medical response units will be on standby.Dedicated, unhindered green corridors are being mapped out to ensure emergency vehicles can reach nearby hospitals instantly without running into bottlenecks.Temporary protective shade structures would also be erected along key pathways to shield attendees from heat exposure.Continuous public awareness campaigns detailing entry/exit routes and civic amenities would be broadcast through media channels as the consecration date approaches, it added.
