For Nigerians who travel regularly for business, tourism, family visits or other commitments, a five-year multiple-entry visa can reduce the need to apply for a new visa before every trip.
These visas allow eligible travellers to make repeated visits during the period of validity, provided they continue to meet the conditions attached to the visa.
However, having a Nigerian passport does not mean a five-year visa is guaranteed. Immigration authorities assess applications based on factors such as the purpose of travel, financial circumstances, previous travel history and compliance with immigration rules.
A five-year visa should not be viewed as a guarantee of entry or permission to remain in a country for five years.
Visa validity and permitted length of stay are different. A visa may allow multiple entries over several years while limiting the length of each individual visit.
