Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on partners to increase pressure on Russia in response to the strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) building near St. Sophia Cathedral.

He said this on X, according to Ukrinform.

“The Russian attack on Ukraine’s Security Service Headquarters is a major escalation that demands resolute responses. Moscow launched this strike during a renewed push for peace – laying bare its true rejection of diplomacy. Located nearby, the UNESCO World Heritage Site – St. Sophia Cathedral – was also placed at risk,” the Foreign Minister said.

Sybiha called on international partners to firmly condemn these actions and step up pressure on the Putin regime. The Minister also urged UNESCO to respond decisively and increase its efforts to protect Ukraine’s cultural heritage, which is under threat.
