Chelsea will make a late decision on Moises Caicedo on Saturday, ahead of the team’s London derby against Arsenal the following day.Caicedo lasted only 14 minutes after coming on in the 68th minute of Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. He went down on the pitch and was attended to by medics, but was able to walk off on his own.The Ecuador international was a surprise absentee from Chelsea’s first game of the season, the 3-2 victory at Fulham, with what manager Xabi Alonso called a “minor setback”. Caicedo also missed the subsequent midweek Carabao Cup win against Luton Town.At his pre-match press conference on Friday, Alonso said that Caicedo’s injury was not serious but did not know if the midfielder would be available for the trip to the Premier League champions on Sunday.“We will check tomorrow, tomorrow is the last decision for the squad on Sunday,” Alonso said. “We (need to) not worry, we need to check tomorrow and take the final decision.”Caicedo was key for Chelsea last season despite them finishing 10th in the Premier League. The 24-year-old is one of Chelsea’s vice-captains, behind Reece James, and has played 149 times for the club since joining from Brighton in August 2023.
