September heat records could fall over the weekend in parts of France as temperatures soar again
Local highs of up to 40C are possible in parts of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, and the Rhône Valley over the weekend as an intense period of late-season heat settles over the southern half of France.
On Friday, Aude, Hérault, Gard, Ardèche, and Drôme were all placed on orange heatwave alert – with the level provisionally maintained in all five on Saturday.
