The Tata Osprey has gone in sale in South Africa.
Tata Motors has launched the Osprey compact SUV in South Africa, with pricing that starts at a shade under R250,000.
Measuring 3,995mm in length, the Osprey is positioned as a relatively compact SUV, while offering 382 litres of boot space. Ground clearance is rated at 208mm, giving it some additional clearance for gravel roads and uneven surfaces.
It is called the Nexon in global markets but has been given a unique name for South Africa, inspired by the bird of prey of the same name. The Osprey is set to compete with vehicles such as the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
All four derivatives are powered by a turbocharged engine, delivering 88kW and 170Nm. The entry-level Smart+ MT paired with a manual transmission and the remaining models are equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) transmission.
