Australia’s federal government has wielded its regulatory powers to prohibit fresh international enrolments in a popular postgraduate management qualification.
The course shutdown aligns with broader policy adjustments by the Labor government aimed at lowering Net Overseas Migration (NOM) from its current level of roughly 300,000 down to a target baseline of 225,000 by 2028 and curb visa exploitation.
The decision targets the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification that authorities suspect has served as a backdoor mechanism for non-genuine students seeking to extend their Australian residency.
