Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has begun welcoming guests to its new waterpark on its private Caribbean cruise island Great Stirrup Cay.The Great Tides Waterpark officially opened this week, completing a major renovation of the 270-acre island that has also included a new pier for NCL’s cruise ships to dock at and a larger Great Life Lagoon pool area.The waterpark features giant slides and the first cliff jump area on a private cruise island.Guests on NCL Caribbean cruises have already been able to visit during a soft launch of the area in recent weeks.Speaking to The Independent, Gary Anslow, vice president and head of the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa for NCL, said: “The feedback has been fantastic.“This is a step change for us as we aim to set the benchmark for private islands and waterparks.“Prior to all of these developments, guests would disembark and just use the beaches.
