The beloved Channel 4 show is returning to screens once again this month as Gogglebox enters its 28th series.10:14, 04 Sep 2026The nation's favourite armchair critics are back.‌The wait is finally over as Gogglebox fans get to see some familiar faces back on their screens to give their thoughts and feelings on the latest TV shows from the week.‌Since the Channel 4 series began back in 2013, the show has become a firm staple in households across the country, with certain families becoming huge hits with people, including the likes of The Malone Family and best friends Jenny Newby and Lee Riley.‌One family who remain popular with viewers and have been part of the show since it began back in 2013 is the Siddiquis. For a decade, people have seen dad Sid share his opinions on the programmes they watch alongside his sons, Umar, Baasit, and Raza.Speaking about what the family have been up to since the cameras stopped filming the 27th series earlier this year, Sid shared that they went on a trip abroad. He commented: "When we finished Gogglebox, we treated ourselves.‌"We went to Spain for only four days. Myself, Umar, Raza, and Mrs Siddiqui, so that's a nice start to the summer. I've been enjoying retirement, working on a household project, doing up some of the rooms."That's a real pleasure for me; it's such a treat. Then, with whatever time I have left, I've just been enjoying the sun." Although he's been a staple on the Channel 4 show for years, the matriarch of the family was once an engineer before retiring. When asked what it's like to be part of the Gogglebox family, Baasit shared that it was 'special' to be part of the institution its grown into. He replied: "It feels just like part and parcel of the family now.‌"When you've been on it for as long as we have, we've seen everyone come and go, and the ones that have stayed as well. It's lovely to see them and see what they're doing."I see bits and pieces, clips on TikTok, the show itself, and things, and we just have a laugh. We're in such a routine with it now, with the wider family as well.‌"The audio guys, the camera guys, the producers - they become part of your extended family through it because you've been on this very unique journey with these individuals. Not quite famous, but part of this institution, so to speak, and it's a special thing to be a part of."While there are many returning fan-favourites, the programme has teased that there are two new families joining the show in the new series on their Instagram.
