Nersa has given the public until October 2 to comment on Eskom's proposed 8.83% electricity price increase, which would take effect on April 1 next year.
South Africans have been given four weeks to put forward their views on Eskom’s proposed 8.83% electricity price increase for next year.
The National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) gazetted the increase on Wednesday, giving the public until October 2 to submit comments before the regulator makes its final decision in November.
If approved, the increase will take effect on April 1, 2027 for customers supplied directly by Eskom, while municipal customers will face an 8.84% increase from July 1.
Written submissions close at 4pm on October 2, with a public hearing scheduled for October 8.
