Police seized chemicals, equipment and suspected crystal methamphetamine during a raid on a farm in Klipvoorstad near Jericho.

Police are still searching for three men after a community tip-off led to the arrest of a 62-year-old man and the dismantling of a suspected crystal methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Klipvoorstad near Jericho, North West.

The discovery was made after residents reported suspicious activity and a strong chemical smell emanating from the property, prompting a multi-disciplinary police operation involving crime intelligence, visible policing, forensic experts, K9 units and drone operators.

Police spokesperson Colonel Anne Magakoe said officers arrived at the farm on Wednesday and immediately noticed a white Mahindra bakkie parked at the entrance. Three men at the premises fled into the surrounding bushes upon noticing the approaching police vehicles

The bakkie driver, who identified himself as the owner of the farm, was stopped and questioned before police conducted a search of the premises with his consent., Magakoe said.
