Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias highlighted the importance of close and continuously strengthening maritime cooperation between Greece and the United States, following his meeting with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.As Kikilias said in a post, the talks focused on further strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation, regional security, the protection of port infrastructure, as well as ensuring free and safe navigation. The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle. The minister noted that the friendship and strategic cooperation between Greece and the US remain close, lasting and substantive, while cooperation in his areas of responsibility has been further upgraded following his visit to Washington last year.He also assured the US side that Greece would continue to work jointly with the United States towards achieving common goals, particularly at a time of heightened geopolitical challenges and growing demands for the security of international shipping and critical maritime infrastructure.
