TVTV NewsChannel 5Benidorm is Murder has been airing on Channel 5 since July17:56, 03 Sep 2026The writer of Benidorm is Murder has lifted the lid on the future of the series.‌Ian Jarvis, who has writing credits on Death in Paradise and its spin-off Beyond Paradise, has impressed viewers with the Channel 5 drama, which stars A Touch of Cloth's John Hannah.‌The new murder mystery drama, which has been dubbed a "cosy crime" thriller, started on Channel 5 in July and will draw to a close on Thursday, September 3, when a power cut at the tavern winds up with a member of the party dead on the floor, a kitchen knife in his chest.‌Fans of the show are keen to know if the thriller, which stars Carolina Bécquer in the role of Dennis' unlikely sidekick Rosa, will return for a second instalment, reports Wales Online.Confirming he'd like to return for another run, Ian said: "I've got at least two series more worth of ideas for Benidorm Is Murder. Every time I go there, I get an idea about how to kill someone. In my job that is only a good thing."‌He continued: "And it's not just me; other cast and crew members when they were out somewhere eating or seeing something on the beach would go, 'That would make a good story of the week.' So, I really hope we get the chance to do this again."John Hannah has also been quoted saying he has his "fingers crossed" that the Benidorm is Murder will return to screens. Channel 5 is yet to announce if a second season is on the cards.Ian also opened up on how working on Death in Paradise helped him when it came to Benidorm is Murder. He said: "I’ve written three episodes of Death in Paradise and two of Beyond Paradise. What I learned is that writing these kinds of shows is harder than it looks.‌"It is sort of like playing a game with the audience. You are setting them a puzzle to solve. You must play fair. You must give them every opportunity to try to solve it. You can’t pull any rabbits out of hats in the final act."But at the same time, if they do solve it then you’ve lost. Doing all that in the space of one hour onscreen, in our case 50 odd minutes, and at the same time hopefully writing interesting, different guest characters and, in our case, making people laugh as well. What I learned was to play by the rules but also to be rigorous with the stories."Article continues belowBenidorm is Murder finale airs on Channel at 9pm on Thursday, September 3.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌Channel 5John Hannah
