At a gathering of readers at the newspaper’s Hyderabad office as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of printing in Hyderabad, readers recalled how its headlines, editorials, current-affairs coverage and distinctive style of journalism had influenced their reading habits and, in some cases, their careers.Chandupriya, a civil services aspirant, said The Hindu had been useful in preparing for the UPSC Mains examination. “The editorials help us understand the core issues behind developments and provide arguments and perspectives that could be used while framing answers,” she said.Director of the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) S. Sreenivasa Murthy recalled the anticipation with which his generation waited for the newspaper to arrive every morning.
