It belongs to a network operated by Rossotrudnichestvo, a federal agency under Russia’s foreign ministry.Rossotrudnichestvo says it operates 87 foreign missions in 71 countries. The seven-story Berlin center, opened on Friedrichstrasse in 1984, has traditionally been the largest.The complex contains approximately 29,000 square meters (7 acres) of usable floor space, including a 1,700-square-meter (18,300-square-feet) foyer, exhibition areas, concert halls, a cinema, a library and apartments. More than 100 people were registered as residents there in 2023.Its official program includes Russian-language courses, concerts, films, exhibitions and events for Berlin’s Russian-speaking population.“That is the official picture,” Berlin-based journalist and analyst Nikolai Klimeniouk told Kyiv Post.
