The Kalaburagi city police have registered a case against former MLA Rajkumar Patil Telkur, BJP Kalaburagi Rural district president Ashok Bagali, and others for allegedly holding an unauthorised protest, obstructing the public, and damaging a motorcyclist’s helmet.The BJP leaders and workers were staging a protest and taking out a procession from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Circle towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday, demanding that the State government declare drought-hit areas.According to the police complaint, the protesters allegedly stopped autos, motorcycles, cars, and buses on the main road near the Deputy Commissioner’s office. A group of protesters led by Mr. Telkur were seen abusing and threatening motorists for passing through the protest site.The complaint also alleged that Mr.Telkur removed a motorcyclist’s helmet and smashed it on the ground.A case has been registered under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 223, 126(2), 324(4), 352, 351(2) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
