The Hindu in School Science Festival and Maths Olympiad 2026 (Ramanujam Spark Quest) will be held in Mandya and Mysuru on September 9 and 11 respectively.While the event in Mandya will be held at Gowri Shankara Kalyana Mantapa KT99/A, 5th Cross, Bannur Main Road, Marigowda Layout, PES Kyathumgere, the venue for the event in Mysuru is Leela Channiah Kalyana Mantapa, Valmiki Road, Paduvarahalli Viayaknagar.The event features an inter-school competition to nurture scientific curiosity and mathematical talent among students. The event is also designed as a platform for students with innovative ideas on science concepts to showcase their talent.The competitions will begin at 9 a.m., and there is no entry fee. While the event at Mandya is open to students from Mandya district, the event in Mysuru is open to students from Mysuru district.Guidelines for Science festEach team will consist of two students from Classes 8 to 10, with every school allowed to register up to six teams, three comprising Class 8 students in the Junior Category and three comprising students of Classes 9 and 10 in the Senior Category. Individual participation is not permitted.Teams must report at the venue by 8.30 a.m. on the day of the event and the students participating in the festival will have to demonstrate innovative, cost-effective working model projects under the ‘Make in India’ concept.Guidelines of Maths OlympiadEach school participating in the Ramanujam Spark Quest can nominate five students each from Classes 8 to 10. Participants have to answer 50 questions in one hour and the total marks will be 200.There will be 30 questions based on science (physics, chemistry and biology) and the remaining 20 questions will be related to mathematics and mental ability. Each question will have four options and students have to select and shade the correct option on the OMR sheet with a ball pen.Participants get four marks for every correct answer and one negative mark for every wrong answer. If two or more students have the same total score, the score in mathematics/mental ability will be used to break the tie.In both competitions, the winner will receive a cash prize, trophies and a merit certificate. The first and second runners-up will also receive cash prizes, trophies and merit certificates. Participation certificates will be issued to all participants.
