Deputy Commissioner Kumar has directed the Health Department and hospitals concerned to take necessary steps to ensure that road accident victims receive cashless emergency treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh under the PM-RAHAT (NHA) scheme.He was speaking at a progress review meeting held at his office in Mandya on Thursday to assess the treatment and assistance being provided to accident victims under the scheme.Mr. Kumar said saving the lives of accident victims should be the top priority. No injured person should be denied treatment on the grounds that they lacked documents or records during an emergency. Hospitals should admit victims and begin emergency treatment immediately, without waiting for documents wherever necessary, he said.He directed hospitals to ensure that eligible road accident victims receive free cashless treatment and necessary emergency care under the scheme. Hospitals should be prepared to provide prompt medical assistance during the critical period immediately following an accident, he said.Private hospitals should strictly adhere to the PM-RAHAT guidelines and ensure that there was no unnecessary delay, demand for payment or inconvenience to victims while providing treatment under the scheme. The prescribed treatment procedures, maintenance of records and online entry of necessary information should be carried out as per the guidelines, he said.The Health Department should ensure that doctors and hospital staff are adequately sensitised to the PM-RAHAT guidelines and the cashless treatment system. Regular inspections should be conducted to ensure there were no lapses in implementation of the scheme, he added.The Deputy Commissioner stressed that saving the lives of road accident victims was paramount and that treatment should not be delayed due to lack of money or documents. All departments concerned and government and private hospitals should work in coordination to ensure that the benefits of the PM-RAHAT scheme reach eligible victims without delay.District Health Officer Dr. Bettaswamy, DySP Lakshminarayan Prasad and representatives of private hospitals were present.
