Government and private hospitals should report admissions of accident victims to the eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report) portal within 24 to 48 hours to help them avail cashless treatment under the Prime Minister-Road Accident Victims Hospitalization and Assured Treatment (PM-RAHAT) scheme, District Health and Family Welfare Officer H.R. Thimmaiah said.Speaking at a PM-RAHAT scheme awareness workshop on Wednesday at the RAPCC auditorium in Mangaluru, Dr. Thimmaiah said the scheme provides free treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims in hospitals for a period of seven days from the date of the accident.In the case of non-life-threatening accidents, hospitals must report the admission of the accident victim to the eDAR portal within 24 hours. For life-threatening injuries, hospitals can report to the portal within 48 hours. Soon after the hospital reports the admission, intimation goes to the concerned police station. Following authentication by the police, the information is transferred to the Transaction Management System 2.0 portal and the accident victim gets cashless coverage under the scheme. In case of delayed reporting, the accident victim will be denied relief under the scheme, Dr. Thimmaiah said.Asking all hospitals to report admissions of accident victims on time, Dr. Thimmaiah said 46 accident victims have availed the scheme in the district so far. Dakshina Kannada is leading the State in the implementation of the scheme, which came into effect in February this year, he said.Superintendent of Wenlock District Hospital D.S. Shivaprakash said the scheme covers all accident victims and there is no income criterion. The scheme will help hospitals provide effective golden-hour treatment to accident victims.Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Nazma Farooqui said pedestrians and motorcyclists form the majority of accident victims.
