Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar made the first-ever solo visit to Ukraine in the history of bilateral relations.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart in Kyiv, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“Today is a special day for us. We are delighted to welcome you, Mr. Minister, to Ukraine. You were here two years ago as part of Prime Minister Modi’s delegation, and now this is the first-ever solo bilateral visit by an Indian foreign minister to Ukraine,” Sybiha said.
He added that this visit—which was not deterred even by continuous Russian attacks—is a landmark event for bilateral relations between the two countries, and thanked the Indian foreign minister for his courage and solidarity.
The head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported that the central topics of today’s talks were peace efforts, bilateral cooperation, freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, and global food security.
