The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have approved the investment program of the Islands Decarbonization Fund, the Ministry of Environment and Energy announced on Wednesday.
The fund includes projects and initiatives worth a total of €2.3 billion, which form a comprehensive strategic investment plan for the energy and environmental transformation of Greece’s islands.
The Islands Decarbonization Fund was established exclusively for Greece as a unified financing framework combining the electrical interconnection of the islands with the development of clean energy, energy storage and electric mobility.
