The Zone One Police Headquarters, Kano, has arrested a man, Ali Mohammed, also known as Faragai, for allegedly defrauding job seekers of more than N40m under the guise of securing government appointments.

Mohammed was arrested by operatives of the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department following complaints that he had been collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public by falsely promising to secure government jobs and appointments for them.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Zone One Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Hussaini, a copy of which was made available to PUNCH Online.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly presented himself as a special assistant to the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board and used the purported position to gain the confidence of prospective job seekers.
