Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has alleged that no constituency project had been executed since September 2025 despite funds being allocated for such projects.
The governor made the allegation while receiving traditional rulers from Esan South East Local Government Area, led by Curtis Iredia Eidinojie I, the Onojie of Ubiaja, at the Government House in Benin City on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Okpebholo noted that the development necessitated the recent amendment of the Financial Autonomy Law of the Edo State House of Assembly and the Judicial Autonomy Law.
He said the amendment was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and due process in the management of state funds.
According to him, the State House of Assembly is responsible for appropriating funds and cannot perform the functions of the Executive by directly executing projects.
