A 45-year-old mother and her 23-year-old daughter were killed after a two-wheeler they were travelling in collided with a private school bus near Kilambakkam in Chengalpattu district on Wednesday. The Tambaram police said Devi and her daughter Swathi were residents of the Urban Habitat Development Board housing complex in Keerapakkam, near Kilambakkam. On Wednesday morning, they were going for personal work in Urapakkam, with Swathi driving the vehicle, while her mother, Devi, on pillion.As the vehicle reached the Karanai Puducherry village, Swathi tried to overtake a government bus that was moving ahead. At that moment, a private school bus approaching from the opposite direction collided with Swathi’s scooter. Both Swathi and her mother were killed on the spot. The Tambaram Traffic Investigation Police recovered the bodies of the deceased and sent them to Tambaram Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Driver of the private school bus was arrested.
