In Nigeria, surviving a suicide attempt can mean facing not only the trauma of the ordeal but also the threat of prosecution.
Laws dating back decades, including some inherited from the colonial era, criminalise attempted suicide -- and, advocates say, deter people in crisis from seeking the care they need.
The government now says those laws have run their course and must change.
