Ukraine does not intend to surrender or retreat in the face of Russian aggression and will continue to defend its land, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa said.
Betsa made the statement on Tuesday during a UN General Assembly meeting on the situation in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, according to an Ukrinform correspondent based in New York.
“Let me make sure that everyone in this room hears this: Ukraine does not intend to surrender. Ukraine does not intend to retreat. We will defend our land. We will defend our freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter,” Betsa stressed.
She added that Ukraine would continue fighting until Russia withdrew its troops, Ukraine’s territorial integrity was restored within its internationally recognized borders, and a just peace was achieved.
Betsa said Russia had chosen a strategy of massive strikes and a constant ballistic threat, deliberately targeting children and civilians while destroying civilian infrastructure and threatening to use nuclear weapons.
