The Main Intelligence Directorate (DIU) of the Ministry of Defense confirmed the strike on the “Novatek-Ust-Luga” complex near St. Petersburg.

This was reported by the military intelligence press service on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“On September 1, 2026, operators from the Department of Active Operations and the Department of Unmanned Systems of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as part of a joint deep-strike operation with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, struck the “Novatek-Ust-Luga” complex in the Leningrad Oblast of Russia,” the statement reads.

As a result of the operation, key components of the oil refinery and process equipment were reportedly damaged, and a massive fire broke out at the plant.
