The Cockroach Janta Party withdrew its call for a march in Delhi on September 5. This came after the Supreme Court ordered that all first information reports registered in the country in connection with student protests held in July be withdrawn.The plea to quash the cases was filed by the Union government on Monday. Bihar, Assam, Maharashtra and West Bengal followed suit.The Union government had also sought permission for the Delhi Police to register a fresh FIR against 2,873 persons with serious criminal records who were present at the protest site. The statement came five days after a flash flood in the Rasuwa district along Nepal’s northern border with China, which has killed 1,003 persons. Of these, 987 deaths were reported in Nepal. Prices of domestic cooking gas cylinders are unchanged.The price of aviation turbine fuel now stands at Rs 121.2 per litre. Read on.A five-member bench of the National Company Law Tribunal stayed the approval of a repayment plan under which media baron Subhash Chandra was allowed to pay Rs 6.2 crore to creditors against admitted claims of about Rs 22,006 crore in his personal insolvency resolution process.
