A RIO Claro retiree was bound with a shoelace on Friday and robbed of a quantity of cash during a home invasion on Friday.According to a police report, the 65-year-old was at home, when around 7.08 p.m. he heard his dogs barking excessively. When he opened the door to check on his pets, he was ambushed by two men.The men took him inside the house, where they told him to lie on his stomach on the floor, and tied his hands behind his back using a shoelace. One of the men stood guard while the other ransacked his two-storey home, taking a quantity of cash. The men then fled the scene.Officers responding to the crime took the victim to the health centre where he was treated and discharged.Police have since interviewed numerous persons and have reviewed CCTV footage. However, they have been unable to locate the suspects.Siparia family robbed during home invasionIn a separate incident in Siparia on Friday, a family of three were also victims of a home invasion.Investigators say at around 3.10 a.m., the 54-year-old homeowner was awakened to two masked men standing in his bedroom where he was asleep with his 40-year-old wife and ten-year-old son.The men turned on the light and announced a robbery, and instructed the victims to remain silent.Both suspects were described as being about six feet tall, and both wore black jeans, and long-sleeved, black T-shirts. One suspect was armed with a cutlass.The hands of the homeowner and his wife were bound behind their backs with duct tape and they were dealt several blows across their body by the suspects. The family was robbed of jewellery estimated at $20,000, approximately $2,000 in cash, and a mobile phone. The suspects fled the scene through a door at the back of the home.Police responded to the crime and processed the scene, but have been unable to apprehend the suspects.
