AN elderly woman of St Margaret’s in Claxton Bay recalled the horror she and her daughter experienced at the hands of criminals who threatened to kill them during a home invasion in the early hours of Saturday. The criminals bound the hands of the 72-year-old and her 36-year-old daughter to the bed with tie-straps; and after ransacking the rooms of the house, took her pension money, another amount of cash, cellphones and other items. The mother and daughter were awakened around 2.30 a.m. by the two intruders, who threatened to kill them. The criminals ransacked the rooms and after some time, they exited the house.
Turned upside-down: A ransacked room in the house.
The daughter managed to free herself and her mother, and contacted the police.Officers found that the criminals removed louvre panes from a window through which they gained entry and exited through a door. When the Express visited the scene on Wednesday, the elderly victim said she remains traumatised over the home invasion and robbery. “I was only calling on Jesus’ name. I say, ‘Jesus, help me. This is the time I need you. Let them go with everything, but spare my life.’ And he did. It was terrible, was awful,” she said. The elderly victim said she and her daughter were asleep on separate beds in a room at their home when they were awakened by the intruders.“They came to me first. I felt a hand over my mouth, and they say if I only bawl, ‘I will kill you right now’. And they were telling her, ‘I will kill your mother if you don’t cooperate.’ She had to stay quiet like a lamb,” said the pensioner. “They came planned to do everything. They take my purse and envelope with my pension.”The elderly woman said she hoped the criminals would be arrested and jailed.“I feel they should be more serious with criminals. When they catch them, deal good with them,” she said.PC Duncan is continuing investigations.
