The police have arrested two more members of a gang that abducted a businessman from Singanallur in Coimbatore and demanded a ransom of ₹2 crore in July this year.K. Vimal (44) of Saravanampatti and P. Anbu (30) of Tiruchi district were arrested in connection with the abduction of S. Dhanasekaran (53), a resident of Mookambigai Nagar at Singanallur.Mr. Dhanasekaran, who is into the sale of used cars, was abducted by five persons when he was standing near his under-construction house around 7.30 a.m. on July 5. They shoved him into a car, gagged and assaulted him, before demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore. The gang later released him.The Singanallur police registered a case based on Mr. Dhanasekaran’s complaint and arrested G. Vairaperumal (30), S. Punniyamoorthy (25), S. Karthi (43) alias ‘police Karthi’, his wife Alika Nisha (40), M. Dinakaran (44), M. Madhan (26) and Karuppasamy Raja (24) during subsequent investigation. According to the police, Madhan is a history-sheeter involved in murder cases.
