The Federal Government is developing a five-year defence and security plan as part of a broader strategy to tackle insecurity, following the recent attack and abductions in the Garun Mallam Local Government Area of Kano State.
Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, disclosed this on Monday during a condolence and security assessment visit to the Kano State Government House over the August 29 attack on Chiroma Village.
Matawalle said the plan, being developed by a committee constituted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would provide a long-term framework for addressing the country’s evolving security challenges.
He said the Federal Government was also preparing to strengthen security operations in Kano through the deployment of additional fighting vehicles, weapons and other operational equipment.
“The President has constituted a committee to develop a five-year defence and security plan. This will guide our long-term approach to tackling security threats across the country,” Matawalle said.
