Bello Matawalle, the minister of state for defence, has said while security agencies are working tirelessly to tackle Nigeria’s growing security challenges, only God can ultimately bring a complete end to insecurity in the country.

Matawalle made the remarks during an interview with BBC Hausa amid renewed attacks, killings and abductions in several parts of the country, including recent incidents in Oyo and Borno states.

He stressed that insecurity remains a national concern that transcends politics, religion and ethnic affiliations, urging Nigerians to support security agencies and avoid turning the crisis into a political weapon.

“It is painful, and we must all unite to ensure that security agencies and citizens work together to defeat insecurity. It affects everyone, regardless of political party or religion,” he said.

The minister accused some opposition figures of exploiting security challenges to score political points and create the impression that the government has failed.
