Joesley Batista met with Trump in the Oval Office on Aug. 20, one day before the president announced a 90-day tariff waiver on beef imports

According to The Wall Street Journal, Joesley Batista — who co-controls JBS, the world's largest meatpacker — sat down with President Donald Trump at the White House on Aug. 20, where the two talked through whether lifting a 26% import duty on Brazilian beef could ease rising American prices. The next day, Trump announced a plan to temporarily ease beef tariffs, saying imported ground beef would sell at 25% below current market prices.
The meeting was first reported by the Journal, which cited people familiar with the matter. It could not be determined who organized the Oval Office meeting.
