The Thamizhaga Cauvery Vivasayigal Sangam has proposed to organise an awareness campaign tour to drum up public support for building a dam across the Cauvery at Rasimanal.Association general secretary P.R. Pandian said here on Tuesday that Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was spreading a false notion that Tamil Nadu drain huge quantity of Cauvery water into Bay of Bengal. In order to counter this campaign, the Tamil Nadu government should revive the Rasimanal dam project for which the former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj had laid the foundation stone.The sangam has decided to organise an awareness campaign tour to drum up public support for Rasimanal Dam project. The tour would commence from Poompuhar on September 20 and cover the delta districts and Puducherry, Chennai, Vellore, and Dharmapuri districts before winding up the campaign in Tiruvarur, he added.
