KING Charles III has extended congratulations to Trinidad and Tobago on the observance of its 64th anniversary of Independence. The King shared the greetings in a message addressed to President Christine Kangaloo yesterday, which was shared by the British High Commission in T&T.“On the occasion of your Independence Day, my wife and I send our warmest congratulations to you and to the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago,” it read. The King reflected on the enduring partnership between both nations, which he said was rooted in shared values and mutual respect that defined the Commonwealth, and noted that the UK was enriched by a community of 25,000 Trinbagonians.“I remain deeply proud of the role our family of nations plays in fostering understanding, cooperation and opportunity across the globe,” he continued. He pointed to the Commonwealth’s rich diversity and energy of its younger generations, which continue to inspire hope and progress, he said.“In these times of global uncertainty, our collective strength and unity are more vital than ever. I look forward to the opportunity for our nations to come together at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November, where we may reaffirm our shared commitments and chart a course for the future,” he added. The King also pleasantly recalled his visit to T&T in 2008 and his interaction with the country’s ‘remarkable biodiversity’.“I welcome Trinidad and Tobago’s continued efforts to strengthen climate resilience and promote environmental stewardship, and I look forward to our countries deepening their partnership as we work together to address these urgent challenges,” he continued.
