Proteas fast bowler Kwena Maphaka geared up for the Zimbabwe challenge on Tuesday.
Kwena Maphaka will get another opportunity to show that he can potentially step into Kagiso Rabada’s big shoes when the Proteas face Zimbabwe in a T20I Tri-Series clash in Windhoek.
Rabada is, of course, not in Namibia, but has in the interim suffered a hamstring injury which has ruled the Proteas’ spearhead out of the upcoming Australia ODI series and made him a doubtful starter for the Tests starting on October 9.
Young Maphaka has bullishly stated that he is ready to step up if required, but the 20-year-old still has a long way to go to match Rabada’s consistency.
He showed in the first match against Zimbabwe last week that he has certainly improved his discipline after an intensive training spell with fast-bowling coaches Piet Botha and Allan Donald in the winter.
