Darren Staples/AFP via Getty ImagesAug. 31, 2026 Updated 6:22 pm EDTEverton have agreed a deal to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City on a season-long loan.The 30-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning prior to completing his return to Merseyside.Grealish was the subject of enquiries from multiple clubs, but Everton were his first choice and emerged as the only team to agree to City’s terms. Sunderland made a loan offer for the winger earlier in the window.The Athletic reported on Sunday that Everton were working on a deal to bring Grealish back to Hill Dickinson Stadium on loan, following his temporary spell with the club last season.Grealish recorded two goals and six assists in 22 appearances for David Moyes’ side before sustaining a stress fracture in his foot which curtailed his season.
The agreement comes after The Athletic reported earlier on Monday that City had reached an agreement in principle for Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye.Grealish made his first Premier League appearance for City since May 2025 when he came on as a substitute in the season-opening 2-1 victory against Bournemouth. However, he was omitted from Enzo Maresca’s squad for Friday’s 4-1 win at Crystal Palace.City signed Grealish for a then-British record fee of £100million in 2021, and he has made 159 appearances for the club, recording 17 goals and 23 assists.Everton have added wide players Tyrique George and Brennan Johnson to their squad this summer, the latter coming in a swap deal with Palace which saw Dwight McNeil depart.Elsewhere, Everton have explored a move for Fulham’s Kenny Tete in recent days as they continue their search for a new right-back. The Dutchman came close to joining as a free agent last summer, only to decide at the last minute to remain in west London.Everton have also decided against selling midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest, who had been in talks over a potential £40m deal for the 19-year-old midfielder.
