Concerns have emerged in parts of Gombe State over allegations that some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are allegedly offering women ₦1000 in exchange for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It was learnt that the practice took place in some communities, with a source familiar with the development warning that individuals believed to be working for APC have been visiting homes and approaching women with offers of cash in exchange for their voter cards.
According to the source, some of the women are also allegedly being given forms to complete alongside the cash offers and promises of financial assistance.
The reported collection of PVCs has raised questions among residents about the purpose behind the exercise and whether it is connected to efforts to identify, mobilise or influence voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
